ACF is an outdoor festival, meaning accessibility for people with mobility issues may find special challenges. We’re here to get rowdy with you! Please see below for access details and recommendations.
We will be doing our best to meet your accessibility needs but facilities for this ACF will not quite meet ADA standards. We thank you in advance for your understanding and your willingness to work with not only us, but our host facilities.
Cabin Accessibility All Cabins have at least one or two steps leading onto the porch. Wheelchair maneuvering will be tight when inside. Volunteers will be available to assist.
Campground Bathhouses There are two bath houses at Lago Linda. The first by the office is inaccessible. The second services our main campground and has much better accessibility. The two large bathrooms have ample space, and toilets with grab bars. The showers have a curb that will not allow chair access, but we have purchased long benches that extend in and out of the shower allowing entrance over the curb. There are ample grab bars in the square corner shower.
We also have requested two wheelchair accessible portable toilets be brought in for the weekend to help us meet our needs.
Cabin Bathrooms The bathrooms in the cabins are small. There are no bars for transfers and bathrooms may be tight for navigating wheelchairs. Showers are cramped and it may be difficult to fit a shower chair. It may be better for those who need accessible showers to use the bathhouse by the camping fields. There are three cabins immediately adjacent to the campground while the others are located across the property.
Muir Valley Bathrooms There are a couple proper toilets in the parking areas but once we are down in the valley floor there will be limited options.
The toilets throughout the climbing areas are all pit toilets (national park style) with steps up to the structures. We are working on building a ramp to at least one of these toilets, but that might still have accessibility challenges. We plan to have one mobile camp toilet in the central field with a privacy shelter to provide a second option.
Moving around Lago Linda: The roads through Lago Linda are gravel, and these serve as major pathways to and from. The campground where we will be staging is the flattest location and is a combination of grass and gravel. The terrain still undulates but not nearly as much as the other surroundings. Cars can access almost any single nook and corner of the camp ground.
Moving around Muir Valley: When you arrive at the main parking area to Muir Valley we will be “on top” of the valley. Our central staging area will be down on the valley floor, and all crags will be accessed from valley floor level. Crag access typically involves a walk or hike, generally uphill.
We encourage all participants who can hike to and from our staging area and the crags to do so. We recommend bringing trekking poles, and will have a few to borrow. We are offering shuttles to and from the valley floor for participants with mobility challenges. These will operate at the beginning and end of each day.
Wolfe county search and rescue will be providing crag access to Bruise Brothers with a side by side ATV to help participants with mobility challenges navigate the rocky and uphill terrain.
Muir valley requests all able to hike please do so to minimize the erosive impact of driving these roads.
